Ticking all the boxes of good skincare habits, and still noticing blemishes or lines and other pesky additions to the face, you’d much rather avoid?
You may be surprised to learn that some of your habits are harming your skin or worse allowing it to age faster than it's usual. Read our latest blog for a few things you may not realise could be harming the skin!

Sleeping on your face
This position can tend to get comfy but imagine smushing your face into your pillow for at least 6 to 8 hours. The friction between your face and the pillow can cause your skin to fold up and form wrinkles over time. Side sleeping is a better option but ideally the best way to avoid these is by sleeping on your back, a great neck pillow could do the trick.

Not getting enough sleep for your body to repair
Sleep not only impacts the brain and whole mental being but also your hormones, which can directly impact your skin. Studies show that a single night of insufficient sleep can make an adults' cells age quicker. Our body rejuvenates and repairs when we're asleep, so try to get at least 6 to 8 hours of restful sleep.

Not having a balanced diet
In general, what’s good for you is good for your skin. The vitamins, minerals and antioxidants present in foods like fruit, vegetables and healthy fats are consistently associated with fewer wrinkles and less age-related dryness. It pays to do research and have a good and balanced diet.

Using sunscreen only when you think it's needed
Sunscreen needs to be used properly EVERY SINGLE TIME even when you stay indoors and most especially outdoors. This is because the sun emits different types of UV radiation, which can cause damage to our cells when absorbed by the skin. Also, pay close attention as you’re applying, and go over the exposed areas multiple times to maximize coverage.
For the face - we always recommend Glow Getter which is a sunscreen, BB cream, and primer all together, an absolute fan favourite that is an absolute must for your morning routine!

Not giving importance on protecting your neck and chest
These are the most neglected areas but these parts show early signs of aging mainly because it is mostly exposed to the sun when you're out and about. So be sure to bring those skincare nutrients down to your neck, chest, and even at the back of your hands. An added protection is to cover up - use clothes that offer enough protection, put your hand inside garments to make sure you can't see it through them.
Overall, aging is not a bad thing. Aging gracefully is more about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, surrounding yourself with the people you love, and doing things that bring you joy (like a monthly facial at The Dermal Diary 😉)
